Facebook: Olympics + Paralympics

In collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee, we delivered official Olympic and Paralympic experiences, including custom Wordmark Delight designs and an Olympic + Paralympic Facebook Hub featuring team and athlete profiles, Tokyo 2020 sport explainers, Olympic history, news, highlights, and more. I provided creative direction and oversaw design quality and continuity across all design spaces for the Facebook App.

 
 
 

Custom Wordmark Delight

My team’s unique animations took over the Facebook app logo launching in accordance with the Olympics and Paralympics daily scheduling.

 
 
 

Olympic and Paralympic Hubs

Partnering closely with product, content and marketing, we launched this user experience globally. When users tapped the Wordmark Delight, they were led to an immersive experience that aggregated Olympics news and entertainment on Facebook. We created a dynamic header animation while avoiding any IP-related challenges.

Both hubs had highlights from official Olympic and Paralympics broadcast partners, team and athlete overviews, explainers of competitions new to the Games, Olympic history, as well as posts from friends and more. Fans could visit the hub directly or by clicking on the #Olympics or #Tokyo2020 hashtags.
