Oculus Connect 5

Oculus Connect is the annual Oculus conference where VR game developers and content creators are invited to learn more about Oculus's VR platform, network with each other, and get the latest information about Oculus hardware, software, and technology in development.

 
 

OC5 wasn’t just an important five year milestone, it was where we launched the most ambitious and game-changing VR product ever: the Oculus Quest.

We proved that the promise of VR had finally arrived by designing the branding for the event in VR.

Identity - Made in VR

 

The event’s design language was created entirely in VR. Instead of just alluding to the potential of VR as a medium, our event design embodied it entirely. From the logo to way finding to on-stage graphics, each element was carefully crafted in the virtual world, then brought into this one.

The following year at OC6 announced a new dimension of VR and Oculus with an expansion into the broader Facebook AR/VR org. The branding took to the next level with AR features for social, our event app, and interactive demos throughout the event.

Identity - Digital Brush Strokes

We worked with Buck LA to create a series of abstract evolving patterns that resemble flowing digital paint strokes, and speak to the convergence of creativity and technology. We developed a custom system for generating these animated patterns using particle systems. We then took these pieces and used it to develop the wide range of assets needed for the conference. The digital look developed more into a smooth feel but kept the same colors and motions.
